In conjunction with Arisa Kumagai\u2019s solo exhibition Heaven Stolen, opening on Saturday, August 23, 2025, Gallery Koyanagi will release a new limited-edition booklet of her works titled Shiro-muku\/White Witch.

Drawing on deeply personal motifs, her grandfather dressed in high-end Italian shirt from the family-run boutique, the adorned hands of her mother and other women wearing an eclectic mix of flamboyant jewelry, and flowers offered to her father who died alone, Kumagai\u2019s work reflects universal themes such as wealth and poverty, life and death. Through these intimate recollections, she is transforming private memory into works of art that transcend individual experience.

This upcoming solo exhibition, Heaven Stolen, marks her fourth at Gallery Koyanagi, following Single bed (2019), My yearning to be You (2022), and …apparently God is forgiving (2023).
The new limited-edition booklet titled Shiro-muku\/White Witch will carry on 11 selected paintings previously exhibited at the gallery, and newly written poetry by the artist. The front cover features a work from one of her most iconic series, Leisure Class.

The booklet will go on sale from 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, exclusively at Gallery Koyanagi, in a limited run of 500 copies. Among these, 10 will be special editions, each accompanied by one one two original drawing(s).
Additionally, during the opening reception of Heaven Stolen (5:00\u20137:00 PM on the same day), booklets purchased at the gallery will be signed in person by the artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
